Senior Dogs
Senior dogs
are dogs who are eight (8) years or older.
Senior dogs
are often discarded because they are no longer considered
"young" or "fun." These wonderful dogs still have years of
life and much love to give, and despite common beliefs, they
adapt well to a new household. Older dogs are typically
difficult to place in adoptions because of their age and
feared medical issues and costs. The average lifespan of a
Samoyed is 12 to 15 years.
Senior dogs
are wonderful companion animals. There are many benefits to
owning a mature pet. Just some of those benefits are:
-
Older dogs
are usually housebroken
-
Older dogs no longer
chew on furniture, shoes or other family household items.
-
Older dogs, most,
enjoy an active life; however, they are much more calm and
quieter than a puppy.
-
Older dogs are much
more likely to provide a calming effect, medically.
